Oviposits in tandem, usually into vertical submerged stems in shallow water of ponds, marshes, upland peat bogs, and sometimes ditches. Weak fluttering flight around breeding sites, often in dense colonies Widespread in Spain, Majorca, south and west France, Corsica, Italy and Sardinia. Local in southern England and Wales. Belgium, Holland, West Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, and Yugoslavia.
