Erythromma najas - Red-eyed Damselfly

Erythromma najas (Hansemann, 1823) [dbid 137]
Oviposits in submerged stems, mainly of water lilies, the couple descending to half a metre or more in an air bubble. Found near lakes and large ponds, and sometimes canals and dykes. Widespread in northern and central Europe, excluding the Mediterranean region.
