Pyrrhosoma nymphula - Large Red Damselfly

Pyrrhosoma nymphula (Sulzer, 1776) [dbid 132]
In northern areas frequents pools, ponds, ditches and sluggish streams, but at low altitude in southern Europe it is found near swifter waters. Widespread and common in much of northern Europe, localised in the south and not found in the Mediterranean islands. Has been found in Morocco and its range extends into Asia.
